Corporate AI Training: Build Reusable Team Skills | Codepresso
Google’s announcement of shared team skills raises a practical question for corporate AI training: can employees create workflows their colleagues can use successfully? Here’s how to connect peer reuse exercises with AI competency assessments before and after training.
|
One-Minute Summary 💡 |
|
Imagine a marketing team preparing its monthly campaign performance report. The person responsible provides AI with the source data, explains the company’s metric definitions and table format, and receives a strong first draft.
The following month, a colleague takes over while that person is on vacation. They use the same prompt, but the reporting period and data exclusion rules are missing. The numbers in the report come out differently.
For training managers, the issue is less about the length of the prompt than the business rules that were never passed on.
At Codepresso, we believe corporate AI training should take employees from “I produced a result” to “My colleague can follow my instructions and verify the result.” Getting a useful AI response and documenting a method the team can reuse are distinct capabilities. Both need practice.
What Does Google’s Gemini Announcement Mean for Corporate AI Training?
At Gemini at Work 2026, Google announced Gemini agent for handling a range of workplace tasks. It also introduced an approach that allows teams and departments to create custom skills and publish them to a shared company registry.
A skill brings together the instructions, knowledge, and sequence of steps needed to perform a particular task repeatedly.
The official Google Cloud article is dated October 9, 2026, while Google’s official announcement summary was published on October 8. Google distinguishes between personal skills and skills shared by a team. In a training setting, this distinction translates into a practical challenge: documenting the conditions you already understand so that someone else can understand them, too.
“Teams or departments can build and publish custom skills to a shared company registry.”
Official Google Cloud announcement, dated October 9, 2026
Google also shared an example of organization-wide adoption. In a joint announcement on October 8, Orange Spain and Google Cloud stated that employees across HR, IT, sales, customer service, and other departments had created more than 1,000 custom AI agents using Gemini Enterprise. Use cases included searching internal knowledge and handling service requests.
This is a vendor-reported example of existing Gemini Enterprise adoption. It is not evidence of the training effectiveness of the newly announced Gemini agent.
Companies in South Korea should not assume that these new capabilities are immediately available. The materials reviewed for this article did not establish a Korean launch date for the new Gemini agent. Separate Workspace guidance on the transition to skills also specifies a phased rollout across accounts.
Training tools should therefore be selected based on the capabilities actually available and approved by the company’s administrators.
How Can You Include Team Skills in an Employee AI Training Program?
Structure the exercise around four steps: document the business rules, run the task, hand it over to a colleague, and refine the instructions.
The final submission should include the completed report, the source materials, the task instructions, and any errors the colleague identified.
The following is an example of a training design proposed by Codepresso.
| Stage | Campaign Report Exercise | Deliverables |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Document rules | Define the reporting period, metrics, and data exclusions. | Initial task instructions |
| 2. Run & verify | Use approved sample data to generate a report. Check figures against the source. | Report and verification notes |
| 3. Test peer reuse | Have a colleague use another period’s data without verbal guidance from the author. | Confusion points and requested changes |
| 4. Refine instructions | Add missing conditions, clarify wording, and rerun the task. | Revised instructions and results |
During the peer reuse stage, the author should avoid continually explaining the process.
If someone says, “We always leave that item out,” check whether the exclusion rule is actually written down. A rule that feels obvious to an experienced employee may be invisible to someone taking over the task.
After the exercise, the team leader reviews the output and business rules and determines the appropriate sharing scope. Use data prepared for training rather than actual customer records, and keep external sending and changes to original files outside the exercise.

How Should You Design Training for Different AI Skill Levels?
Use the same business task, but vary each participant’s role and scope of responsibility.
Beginners can follow instructions and verify results. More experienced employees can write the instructions and test whether they work with different inputs.
For a marketing report exercise:
- Beginners change the reporting period and metrics, run the task, and check the totals in the table.
- Intermediate users refine the instructions to prevent AI from filling in missing data with invented values.
- Advanced users define which conditions allow the workflow to be reused across campaigns and when it should not be applied.
Avoid assigning most of the work to whoever operates the tool fastest.
Even when the team submits a single deliverable, each participant should keep a record of their own prompts and verification steps. A strong group output does not establish that every member has the same level of competency. Assuming otherwise can obscure who needs additional support after training.
Participants should also switch roles. Let the skill author experience the workflow as a user, and work together to address gaps identified by beginners.
This turns the judgment skills needed in AI training for non-developers into a practical collaboration exercise.
What Does a Reusable AI Prompt Template Look Like?
The following sample provides task instructions for a campaign performance report. It was created for training and is not an actual company’s internal document.
Adapt it to your team’s metric definitions and approval procedures.
| Instruction Component | Training Example |
|---|---|
| Task objective | Draft a campaign performance report for review at a team meeting. |
| Input materials | Use the approved campaign summary spreadsheet and metric guide. Ask for the reporting period if missing before proceeding. |
| Process | Confirm the reporting period and aggregation rules. Tabulate performance by channel, separating evidence-supported findings from hypotheses when analyzing causes. |
| Output format | Present, in order: an executive summary, a channel performance table, and items needing further verification. |
| Validation criteria | Verify totals and ratios against source data. Mark unavailable figures as missing; do not fill them in. |
| Ownership & version | Record the author, last updated date, instruction version, and designated reviewer. |
When handing the instructions to a colleague, include more than inputs that already work well. Try a dataset with no reporting period or one with renamed metrics.
Does the AI ask for clarification, or does it quietly produce incorrect figures?
The goal of sharing instructions is to preserve the standards the task requires. Identical wording in every output is not the measure of success.
This template is a training resource for transferring and testing task instructions. Check the relevant product documentation separately for setup requirements and supported features.

How Do Shared Team Skills and Codepresso AI Fluent Differ?
Shared skills help multiple people use a documented way of working. AI Fluent assesses how people work with AI and the results they produce.
Organizations need to distinguish between making a tool available and establishing that employees can use it appropriately.
As explained in Codepresso AI Fluent’s assessment approach and tracks, assessments consider the prompts employees enter alongside their intermediate and final deliverables.
Tasks vary by job role, while the scoring framework is shared across the organization. The public product information available at the time of writing describes seven assessment areas and four competency levels.
Codepresso’s strength lies in capturing evidence of employees’ work processes and results, then assessing competency changes against the same criteria after training.
This connects assessment to a practical question: “Who needs to learn what next?” The number of shared skills or completed courses alone cannot provide that answer.
Google’s task execution capabilities and AI Fluent’s employee competency assessments serve different purposes. AI Fluent’s published product information does not establish that it provides skill deployment or access-blocking capabilities, and those features should not be assumed.
How Can You Measure AI Training Effectiveness?
Assign tasks of comparable difficulty before and after training. Compare how clearly employees specify their requests and how they identify, verify, and correct errors.
Report team skills and changes in individual competency as separate measures.

Before training, record how much of the task each participant can complete without help. After training, provide different source materials and assess performance using the same criteria.
If the report improves, determine whether the employee refined the business rules independently or ran a completed set of instructions supplied by the instructor. If the tools or data conditions have changed, document those differences alongside the comparison.
Training managers can also turn the obstacles encountered during peer reuse into exercises for the next session.
As outlined in connecting AI training with workplace application and reassessment, the process should move from assessment to training and then to reassessment. The goal is to document how employees improve at explaining business rules and validating results, going beyond a record of course completion.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What Is the Most Important Element of Employee AI Training?
Teach employees both the purpose of the task and the criteria for checking the result.
For team skill training, Codepresso recommends exercises in which one employee writes the instructions, another follows them, and both identify and address missing conditions.
How Is an AI Skill Different from a Prompt?
In this article, an AI skill is a reusable combination of instructions, knowledge, and process steps for a specific task.
It extends beyond a single request by including the conditions for use, reference materials, and validation criteria that allow colleagues to reuse it.
Is Google’s New Gemini Agent Available in South Korea?
The official announcements reviewed as of October 9, 2026, do not establish the Korean availability date or full scope of access for the new Gemini agent.
For training, confirm the features available in your company’s accounts and the relevant administrator policies. Teams can begin by practicing how to document shared task instructions.
Does Creating a Team Skill Prove That Training Was Effective?
Registering a skill does not, by itself, demonstrate improved employee competency.
Ask employees to complete tasks of similar difficulty before and after training, then compare their prompt histories, revision processes, and final deliverables using the same criteria.
